I was asked by a former professor about
receiving care packages. I could've just listed items in an email.
However, sending items to Ethiopia can be very expensive. Also, I was
hoping to reduce the chance of getting many of the same items from
multiple people (15 notebooks for example). I wanted to think of a
way that people could coordinate efforts and reduce costs if they
wished. Then I remembered my old blog. There is a comments section
below. Please feel free to use this to coordinate care packages if
you would like. (This way you can save money on shipping and reduce
item overlap.)
Here are some items that would be nice
to receive in a care package:
Food:
- Chewable multivitamins (preferably gummy in nature)
- Dark chocolate (the darker the better...overlap would be appreciated)
- Milk chocolate (overlap is good)
- Trail mix (overlap is good)
- Any dry sauce mix (if they only require water that would be nice) (ranch, cheese sauce mixes, etc)
- Peel-apart-twizzlers (feel free to overlap these)
- Gummy Bears
- Hot coco (feel free to overlap)
- Random Candy!
Random:
- Wall posters/maps
- Interesting news/research articles (I will always be a student at heart)
- Plant seeds (for my garden beds...a variety would be good. I can only get potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, and garlic here.)
- Flashcards, notebooks, and/or good pens
- I have many books on my kindle...if you have any suggestions please let me know
Fun:
- Sudoku, Word searches, brain teasers, riddles, etc. (Except crosswords...please no crosswords)
- How-to-kits (I need something like crocheting or whittling to keep my hand busy during free time. This could be a home-made kit if anyone out there is a crocheting enthusiast.)
I would like to say this: do not feel
obliged to send me anything. All of my basic needs are met here in
Ethiopia. A care package would just be a great pick-me-up. If you do
send something please write a letter also. I love to know whats going
on back home. Pictures would be cool also. Anyway...as I said before:
feel free to use the comments section to coordinate care packages to
save money. :)
